Sonnet 18
Cohabiting prior to the Big Day
Renders emotions a tad more temperate,
The revolution of our first kiss (1st May)
Was over once we set our nuptials date.
A cycling! honeymoon beneath French skies -
/ /
Liberte and egalite get dimmed
/ \
On bikes, fraternite a deux declines,
Mon Dieu she's left both her armpits untrimmed.
A few days home and the tan begins to fade,
Our la vie en rose was borrowed not ow'st,
Hopes for nouvelle cuisine die in the shade -
Only me heating what Tesco grow'st.
Here's one ingredient I didn't see:
You've ousted me and left in royal thee!
